Text Box: WE WOULD LIKE TO OFFER A WARM WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST MEMBERS ED & JEANNE DAVIS AND AL & YVONNE SHULER.  WE HOPE YOU LIKE OUR FACILITIES AND INVITE YOU TO JOIN OUR ASSOCIATIONS, SOCIAL EVENTS AND MANY LEAGUES!
ITEMS AND UPDATES:
REUSE WATER & POND:  The effluent pond has been dug, pipe installed, pump delivered and installed, pump house begun and the liner delivered for 7/25 installation.  We still need to pressure test and get the site all ready for water delivery as early as August 1st.  So far we are right on track.
GOLF COURSE:  This month rain was still an issue with the condition of the course.  Without full use of our irrigation system, we are fighting an uphill battle.     This should change once we have use of the new system early next month.  On the 13th of July, we cut in 328 stolens and made temporary greens on #2, #9, #12 and #13.  In addition, we had Bay Hills retired Superintendent consult and offer us a greens fertilization program for all the greens.  The first application was applied on the 19th.  Look for more continued improvement as we get more rain and an improved irrigation system.
SPECIAL THANKS: To Dale Ryals for finding us the new water fountain on hole #4.  Great effort Dale!

Temporary Greens.  Members who have recently been playing Tomoka Oaks know that there are four temporary greens on the course. This condition is expected to last for four to six weeks to allow the “stolens” that have been implanted to grow and fill in the surfaces of the regular greens. During this period the golf course has been shortened by a total of 117 yards. While the USGA Handicap Manual provides for making adjustments to the Course Rating and Course Slope when playing from unrated tees, such adjustments may or may not be prudent when the course is shortened because of temporary greens. Under the current conditions, the temporary greens are considerably smaller than the regular greens that they replace and the surface condition of these temporary greens does not promote smooth, straight putts. For these reasons there is little, if any, advantage gained and the Course Rating and Course Slope will not be adjusted. Scores for handicap purposes will be posted as usual. There is a notice posted both in the Pro Shop and in the Oak Room that shows the changes in yardage for each of the four holes.  There will be only one revision of handicaps this month, on August 11th.
